Im bewährten Format stellen die Autoren noch einmal Podcasting vor (2005 haben sie es schon einmal getan). Der Einstieg: „In its most basic sense, a podcast is an audio file.“ Aber: „Purists would insist … that a podcast must be serialized content available through an RSS feed.“ Nachdem das geklärt ist, gibt es Antworten auf die Fragen „How does it work?“, „Who’s doing it?“, „Why is it significant?“, „What are the downsides?“, „Where is it going?“ und „What are the implications for teaching and learning?“.
Ich habe zwei Botschaften mitgenommen: Podcasting ist vielfältig, weil es Unterhaltung, Information, Lernaktivität oder Prüfungsformat sein kann (oder alles zusammen). Und: Podcasting ist ein wichtiger Teil dessen, was heute gerne „media literacy“ genannt und als „future skill“ hoch gehalten wird.
